House Portraits
I have created house portraits for a variety of clients. Some clients commission them as gifts to their parents who have sold a beloved home to downsize. Sometimes the clients commission a painting of their parents’ house as a reminder of the childhood home they grew up in.
The most common reason for a house portrait is as a gift to new homeowners. These are usually commissioned by family members, or their realtors as a gift.
House Portrait Drawings
All house portrait drawings are done with colorfast, premium quality pastel pencils on archival Canson Mi-Teintes paper mounted on art board for extra stability and durability. The drawing is then sealed with a UV-resistant fixative to prevent smudging and fading. Once the drawing is framed and properly displayed, it will last more than a lifetime.
House Portrait Paintings
House portrait paintings are painted with professional grade gouache on Arches 100% rag watercolor paper which has been mounted on an archival-safe cradled panel. It is then sealed with several coats of UV-protective varnish.
The varnish and cradled panel allow the artwork to be hung upon arrival, like a traditional canvas painting, without the need for a frame.
Business Portraits
House portraits aren’t limited to private homes. I’ve done portraits of businesses as well. If you have a brick and mortar business that you’ve built from the ground up and is your passion, a painting is a great way to commemorate your hard work. It will last for years and be fitting memento to look back upon your achievements.
House Portrait Pricing
Because house portraits usually include a lot more detail than other portraits, they take longer to create and thus cost a bit more. The attention to detail also means they are not available in the smaller sizes.
